No doubt this is long overdue, but there is rarely something exciting enough to warrant a blog update in our lives. This is my first Christmas not being in school. I must admit I thought it would be a lot easier than it is. Finals, papers, and moving home for the holidays continually overshadowed the intentional slowing down that is supposed to happen around Christmas time. Now I'm working 50 to 60 hours a week, so things are even more crazy now than they used to be. I'm going to miss the 3 weeks of time off that normally comes between semesters. Now I get 3 days off. It'll give Dusten some time to get some things done around the house. Now we're just trying to get visits in with everyone we can inbetween work and sleep. We have been staying up way too late recently. I can barely keep my eyes open on the way to work, let alone try to work overtime. Last weekend we had the Leath family Christmas. Leath who? Leath is Dusten's maternal grandmother's maiden name. I'll give you a second to work that out. Dusten's grandma has 5 sisters. They all have kids (Dustens mom's generation) and they all have kids (Dusten's generation) and now they all have kids. There are so many people that I probably know like 10 of them, basically just Dusten's aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. We also had the symphony that same night. So we went to the party, the symphony, then back to the party.
We only have half of our Christmas shopping done. We have all my family done, but we haven't purchased a single thing for anyone in Dusten's family. Hopefully we will get that done this weekend. I haven't wrapped anything either. Dusten and I agreed to not buy each other christmas gifts as we do every year. And like every other year that didn't work. Dusten went out on black friday and bought me a garage door opener, and a nice one at that. He also bought himself a table saw and a nail gun set. To which I said Merry Christmas. Now we all know what a tight wad Dusten is (and I love it) and he kept trying to justify why he bought all the stuff. Like I was going to make him take it all back... I will be taking off the 23rd from work, so I'll have some last minute time to play with. Last night we had our lifegroup over for a Christmas Party. We did a white elephant exchange, regifting gifts that people gave us when they were serious. It was a lot of fun, and there was some really random stuff. I got some ducks dressed up as Santa Claus-they were ornaments. Dusten got some wind up sushi and some anti monkey butt powder.
In weather news, it's been snowing since Thanksgiving, and we still don't have any snow. Dusten claims we have had snow, but in my opinion it doesn't count as snow until it actually starts to cover the grass. Apparantly we are supposed to get sone snow today or tomorrow, but I don't think it's supposed to give us a white christmas. That's ok though, because we'll be driving to and from Terre Haute next week.
Tonight it looks like we'll be going out to dinner with Dusten's family for Casie's graduation.
I haven't been listening to any books lately. I got some new Christmas CDs from the library. Faith Hill's Joy to the World and Enya's And Winter Came. I have been listening to them for the past couple weeks. Enya's is perfect to listen to during a snowfall, but if you know her style of music, it'll put you to sleep.

Here's the snow flake that Dusten made. He just had to show me up!

Well, I think that's all for now... If I don't blog again before Christmas, have a Merry one!

Hi Amanda & Dustin. Just enjoying your blog. Lots of info I didn't know. Grandma sure is enjoying our x-mas gift. She can now do it herself. Aunt Beth
