Happy Valentine's Day

Yeah, I know it's a little late, but we had a busy day. I worked my usual 9 hour shift and Dusten worked his 8. As soon as I got home, we were out the door again to our Lifegroup meeting. We decided against going out to dinner, because it is always crazy, especially on a weekend. So we opted to stay in for a candlelit dinner. We made fettuccine alfredo, broccoli, salad, and lots of dessert.

Then we played the Newlywed DVD game, which was hilarious and a lot of fun. The guys even volunteered (sort of) to clean up the mess.

As for gifts, we normally don't, you know us cheapskates. But I was surprised by a special delivery at work. It was Wednesday or Thursday and I got an email from HR to come pick up a delivery. I talked to Jamie, my new supervisor, and we were trying to figure out what was going on. I told my new team that I would be lucky to get a card for Valentine's Day, because that's just the way D is about these kinds of holidays. So I emailed her back asking if she was sure it was me, and it was, so I went down to pick it up. To my surprise D had ordered me flowers and sent them in the middle of the week so he could tag it as Happy Valentine's Day/Congratulations on your promotion.

It doesn't look exactly like that, but pretty close.

It was a much better job than the flowers he got me for our 1 year anniversary.

He worked right across the street from me, because I was still in school and working there, and he sent me flowers in a box. How fun is that? NOT. You have to cut them and arrange them yourself. Which I am not good at at all. Also, it was like 90 degrees that week, and half of the flowers were wilted. So he called to tell them so and they sent another one which wasn't any better. My thing was..you work across the street, go to Kroger, buy some flowers and hand deliver them. It would have been better...now we know. Never buy flowers in a box.
I also got a package from my mom that was kind of funny. There was a bunch of Valentine's Day candy which is all gone now, and she sent toothbrushes...lol. Candy and toothbrushes. The perfect gift. We use them though, they are cool toothbrushes.
The MIL dropped off cookies, and while they were a little chewy, they were superb dunked in milk. There were 3 packages, and I just ate an entire one myself. Maybe D won't notice.. he probably won't, but he'll read it on here..lol.
And so in honor of Valentine's Day I will leave you with one of my favorite songs. Dusten calls it whiney, but we played it at our wedding. It's about a proposal, so I thought it appropriate.
Question by Old 97s
She woke from a dream
Her head was on fire
Why was he so nervous?
He took her to the park
She crossed her arms
And lowered her eyelids
Someday, somebody's gonna ask you
A question that you should say "yes" to
Once in your life
Baby, tonight I've got a question for you
She'd had no idea
And started to cry
She said "in a good way"
He took her by the hand
Walked her back home
And they took the long way
Someday, somebody's gonna ask you
The question that you should say "yes" to
Once in your life
Maybe tonight I've got a question for you
I've got a question for you...
