Well, things are definitely changing in the Tryon household. As you know, for the past 5 years, Dusten has been pulling 60 hour weeks working full time at AU and 20 hours at the Lapel library. He had intended on quitting this job at the library in May after the house was paid off. He's gone round and round about staying or leaving. Turns out he didn't have to make that decision. The library has been making a lot of changes trying to cut the budget due to property tax caps. On Wednesday the library board voted to close Lapel on Saturdays and eliminate a position effective March 1st. So Saturday, February 28th will be Dusten's last day working at the library. He is sad to say goodbye to the people he has worked with and customers that he has built relationships with over the last 5 years. We were shocked that these decisions were made so fast, but we also know that we have prepared for this time as well.
Dusten joked that I will now have a maid and cook around the house. I'm pretty excited about that. I'll have to teach him how to do all things I do around the house. I asked him a couple of months ago to clean the bathroom, and he told me that he didn't know how, that's going to have to change. It will give us a lot more time to spend together and Dusten has lots of projects to work on around the house. He wants to double the size of the garden this year, so that'll keep him busy.
I'm already making less money with my new position at work due to lower bonuses. Now they're talking about cutting my overtime. As a collector, my overtime was unlimited to 11 hours a day. Now I'm working 20 hours of overtime a week and they're wanting to cut it in half. That adds up fast. Of course it's perfect timing, since D won't be working on Saturdays anymore. Jamie (my boss) talked to her boss about it, because she can justify it (I.e. I'm actually working when I'm here). We'll see how that goes, but I'm sure that will take effect sooner than later.
